Nathan Donovan is an FBI counterterrorism agent, dealing with his own demons after the death of his young son and a recent divorce.
Contacted by an eighty year old man named Li in regards to a recent New York murder investigation, Donovan is required to accept the unthinkable: Biological warfare is headed for New York City. But can he believe an old man who obviously has his own revenge in mind?
Forced to accept the help of his ex-wife, an expert in the field of the psychology of terrorism, and the confucian advice of Li, the three set out to track down and capture a terrorist that nobody has seen for 60 years - is he even still alive?
Plaguemaker is well researched and fast paced, and the characters really come alive, particularly Li with his confucian wisdom and unique wit. It is an interesting and sometimes terrifying look at what is possible in this world of terrorism and biological warfare - a thriller in the true sense of the word and a book I found hard to put down.
