Jacqui cannot forget the first time she looked up and saw Christopher Warden. While his sheer presence took her breath away, circumstances forced her to keep her head and wits about her. Responsible for her brother and sister as the head of the family, she didn’t have time for any useless chitchat; she had homes to build and sell.
Christopher had no way of knowing that he would be knocked off guard by the beauty and personality of Jacqui. While the first meeting was indirectly due to his sister Alaine and her brother Kyle spending too much time together, Christopher doesn’t want the contact to stop. Somehow she has managed to get him to look at life through different eyes, and like a parched man in the dessert, he simply cannot get his fill.
This is a wonderful modern day love story that anyone can just pick up and enjoy. The tension between the main characters builds to a delicious climax while the family members from both sides join in on the fun. I was most impressed with the character development and story telling details that led the reader to believe that they were experiencing it for themselves. Ms. Bierce is an exciting author that I’m sure we will see again in the future; I look forward to it!
