In Pursuit of Love

Reviewed by Vianna Renaud

While the sparks begin to fly from the first time Jack and Margie meet each other through a collision of sorts, they become intertwined in one long adventure after another. While it doesn’t take too long before they begin to antagonize each other, in their pursuit to go back to their normal lives and situations, the mishaps never cease to occur. While everything does get sorted out in the end, and Margie and Jack realize their true feelings for each other, it feels like a marathon getting to that point amidst the farce.

Although the author tries to make it a romantic comedy, and to a certain degree there is both romance and comedy, I feel that the two aspects never quite fit together in harmony. While the storyline did keep up an interesting pace, and there was continual action
from chapter to chapter, it very quickly became tiresome and repetitive. The connection between Jack and Margie could have also had more intensity; most of the time it seemed like they were bickering children instead of mutually attracted adults desperately in love with each other. Perhaps this would have been solved by further character development.

Even with these flaws, the book was entertaining enough to make for a good read on a rainy day.
