As the breakdown of marriages within the US has hit record numbers, Dr. Pat Boone tackles what she deems as the most common misconceptions about marriage. Illustrated by the famed cartoonist Casey Koester, each myth has its own dedicated cartoon and space to
explore. This book addresses common issues such as communication, arguments, parenting, family concerns, among other potential spousal hot spots.
In spite of the brutally honest and almost too personal introduction by Dr. Boone, I found myself
drawn to the logic and user-friendliness of the book. Each myth had its own space and area to write notes. As a result, I could see how this book would be useful to multiple audiences covering a wide spectrum of people from all walks of life. Not only is this a book for the soon-to-be married, I can see this being a helpful guide to everyone from teenagers to grandfathers. The simple truths highlighted in the book do not change through time, therefore one should rightly be aware of them and Dr. Boone approaches this with tact and honesty.
Although I would have liked to have seen exact quotes for the Biblical references as well as a mention of the translation used, I felt that this book overall handled the subject matter well. Dr. Boone manages to keep everything light and humorous without getting bogged down in the seriousness of it all.
