Most personal finance guides share approximately the same general advice: live within your means, put money into your savings, and invest in long term investments for retirement. While these messages are simple common sense and most of us have heard this advice a million times, the reality is that most of us never really follow through on these notions. Thus, we continue to read the same advice over and over again in yet another personal finance book.
He Said It! I Did It! does include these same tried and true methods (that is, if we actually tried them) that most other personal finance books contain. However, this book also contains a few refreshing and new tactics that I have never read in other such books.
Most importantly, the authors explain the difference between being rich and having abundance. You can be rich and have lots of stuff but if you are spending above your means and are constantly struggling to keep that lifestyle then you will find yourself becoming a slave to the dollar. Abundance, living within your means and using your earning to achieve a vision, is the real goal.
The authors also take a markedly spiritual tone when it comes to money. Not only do they feel that God provides opportunities for abundance to those that show they are responsible enough to have money but also to those individuals who use their money to better the world.
I think for some individuals, these differences might actually help them think differently about money, as a tool to gain abundance rather than as a way of getting more stuff. Moreover, this book also reminds us all that we have a responsibility to leave the planet a bit better than when we arrived.
