When Kyle's father Carter D'arcy is murdered, Kyle finds that his whole life has been based upon a lie. His father, a famous geneticist has left Kyle an envelope of papers , a key that someone else is anxious to obtain, and a picture of a gorgeous mystery woman. A few days after the death of Kyle's father, his mother is also murdered. The killers try to kill Kyle as well, but he is saved by Ravyn, the gorgeous woman whose picture was found in his father's wallet.

Ravyn, a strong warrior type heroine is a strong contrast to Kyle who is a spoiled bored brat. She begins to tell him of a war, that will be fought with diseases, which will engulf and destroy two worlds. He does not believe her at first or understand how he fits into the grand scheme of things. She continues to tell him about his heritage and about things she has been taught and prepared for. He begins to believe her and then you are whisked away as another portion of the puzzle is revealed and the plot twists down another path.

This book was a little frustrating because it ends on a cliffhanger. I personally am waiting for the next book, on edge. You really become deeply involved with the characters. The book is full of suspense, intrigue, and romance and at the same time it has you pondering deep ethical, and moral issues. This book will touch you deeply and make you think as well as give you an amazing sci-fi adventure.
