The Collective
Jennifer Lamoureaux
Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1-4134-4453-9
Fiction, Fantasy
Reviewed by Dr. Tami Brady

The Collective is a Jungian fantasy about the various worlds of Archetypes and their stories. The primary story in this book is about the Queen in Snow White. This Queen suffers an identity crisis when she realizes that her story has a number of variations. The Queen then suddenly starts to ask questions about her role in her story line and her potential abilities to choose her own destiny. Perhaps, she even wants to reconcile with Snow White, after all they are mother and daughter.

The Collective is an intellectual fantasy questioning the roles and futures of some of the better-known archetypes such as those in fairy tales, mythology, and religion. The mix of the Queen and Conrad the magic mirror along with Buddha, Jesus, the snake from Eden, and many others creates extremely entertaining situations. Furthermore, the topics of conversion between these entities are both thought provoking and deep, at times downright mind-boggling. This book will be most enjoyed by those well versed and interested in Jungian theory who want an intellectual work out while laughing themselves silly.
