Hot House 2: Michael & Mercy by Sheri Gilmore is dark erotica of the most deliciously demonic kind.
Michael is a fallen angel, charged with keeping peace in the bowels of hell. Not only does he have to worry about a demon coop, he's got to stop Zeus from attacking hell in a never ending battle of wills. Little does he know when he agreed to take Zeus daughter, Mercedes, as a hostage in exchange for peace that she will be his ultimate temptation.
Mercedes doesn't know she is the daughter of a Greek god. She thinks she is just a run-of-the-mill human, who's tired of men trying to run her life. More than that, she is Michael's other half.
It doesn't take long as Michael's unwilling guest in the underworld before Mercy not only accepts her predicament but becomes determined to make the best of it, and with the help of the well-endowed demon Raum, she learns more than she ever thought possible. She learns to embrace the role of dominant as she contrives to bring the proud Michael figuratively and literally to his knees.
The plot thickens. Michael is attracted to Raum as well as Mercy, and Mercy takes her role as Raum's dominant seriously, refusing to sacrifice him to Michael's wrath, opting instead to share her affection and body with both men, who are also irresistibly attracted to one another.
Now that Michael is hers, Mercy faces another challenge. Can she become equally comfortable in the role of submissive?
Gilmore does an amazing job mixing bits of BDSM and homoerotic sex with an untraditional romance element. While I would like to have seen more time spent on building the back story and how archangels, demons, and gods interact, I was not disappointed in the intensity of the chemical attraction among the lead characters.
