Think Safe: Practical Measures to Increase Security at Home, at Work, and Throughout Life takes a very detailed look at common dangers both within our homes and while participating in the outside world. The author states various surprising and not so surprising facts and figures showing the most common dangers at every stage of one’s life. These statistics show that certain ages are far more likely to experience certain types of victimization. For instance, some forms of sexual abuse (like forcible sodomy) are far likely to occur to preschool aged children while teenagers are more likely to be victims of other types of such abuse (like forcible rape). Similarly, some forms of physical and financial victimization (such as caregiver abuse, extortion, consumer theft) are far more prevalent in the elderly population than in the rest of the overall population.
Not only does this book detail high risk groups for various forms of victimization but also discusses things that you as a parent, caregiver, or member of a high risk group can do to protect yourself and others from such dire circumstances. All of the advice given is easy to do, realistic, and will help the reader protect him or herself and his or her loved ones from suffering from potential victimization or to seek help before he of she becomes the victimizer. Thus, this is an important book for everyone to read.
