The Summer Kitchen is an anthology of articles about different foods. This anthology includes ten articles each focusing on a different food: brussels sprouts, chilies, corn, cucumbers, grains, peaches, pears, raspberries, strawberries, and tomatoes. The history, growing season, and nutritional values are discussed for each food. Furthermore, the author provides tips on how to select and store fresh foods as well as preparation and a few tasty recipes.
The Summer Garden is more than a cookbook. The recipes included are easy to create and tasty. However, the background information for each food is interesting and the tips are extremely helpful. These little extras are invaluable beyond use with the accompanying recipes.
