My Private Hell: Struggle & Survival
Gail Fonda
PublishAmerica
ISBN: 1-4137-6082-1
Non-Fiction, Memoir, Health, Depression
Reviewed by Dr. Tami Brady

My Private Hell: Struggle & Survival details the author’s experiences while battling debilitating anxiety. Like many people who suffer from extreme forms of anxiety and depression, the author felt alone and completely unable to control her symptoms. Her anxiety was so unbearable that she shied from social situations as best she could, self medicated with marijuana, and took a battery of prescribed medications from her doctor. Only in adulthood did the author find the key to reducing her anxiety, aerobic exercise.

More and more people are realizing that exercise can reduce the symptoms associated with anxiety and depression. I think that it is important for us all to realize the important connection between exercise and a healthy outlook on life. Moreover, exercise allows us to take control of our physical and emotional health in ways that can compliment any therapies prescribed by our health care professionals.
