Having a baby is an emotional time. Never do we feel more hopeful for the future and more connected to another individual. Never do we feel more anxiety and worry about whether we have the ability to take on such an important responsibility. Despite our desire that the process be completely blissful, unfortunately worries and self doubt are also a large part of having a baby, particularly for those having their first child.
Labour of Love aims to alleviate anxiety for first time parents. The author, a mother of four children, has made a collection of stories that she has collected about pregnancy and birth. These stories illustrate the myriad of possibilities during the process. I believe these stories will show first time parents that their experience is perfectly acceptable. Years later, this book will serve as a trigger for reminiscence of the miraculous event.
