Becoming the Journey: A Transformation Guide is an extensive guide to total health. Unlike most guides of this type, this book takes a more balanced approach by looking at motivation to change one's lifestyle as well as the commonly studied aspects of diet and exercise. Moreover, instead of dictating one particular limited diet or exercise routine, the author sets out to teach the reader how to create such regimes that are tailored to his or her needs, wants, and desires. In fact, the author suggests that a myriad of routines may actually increase motivation and fat burning properties of any transformation plan.
The author also suggests that making educated and well thought out transformation decisions are the key to both short term and long term success. In this way, much of the book debunks various diet and exercise myths while explaining the inner workings of motivation, diet, and exercise. The author also explains, in plain language and in gradual steps, many complex concepts such as the roles of sugars, carbohydrates, and proteins as well as the differences between strength training and cardiovascular training and their role in fat burning. Further, the author details both his transformation failures and successes illustrating his real life struggles with his own transformation. This allows the reader insight into theory turned reality.
Becoming the Journey: A Transformation Guide is a well-written motivation, diet, and exercise guide. This book is full of information to educate the reader and start him or her on a journey of self-exploration. The mass amount of information is presented in a straightforward gradually evolving format to reduce potential reader frustration and intimidation. Furthermore, links for further self-education and study are provided so that the reader can continue his or her transformation education according to his or her own needs, wants, and desires.
