Going through this book, it's been one rough year! Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, rising gas prices, Terry Shiavo - it's hard to believe that humor can be found in any of these subjects. This collection of cartoons does so - it's wry humor, the kind that gets you through the hard times, but in no way lessens or undermines the suffering of the survivors or the idiocy of those in charge of the world.

There are included the rather absurd subjects, like the Michael Jackson trial. My favorite cartoon on this subject was on that featured Jackson and Bubbles the chimp walking off into the sunset, with Bubbles asserting "You still can't babysit my kids." Baseball steroids, and the runaway bride are not forgotten subjects either.

Cagyl and Farrington have pulled together a great composite of the year. Sometimes, the reference is painful and heartbreaking, still somehow we survived the situation to move into another year. Celebrate the good, the terrible, the ridiculous with this witty, sarcastic, delightful book.
