I had great hopes for this slim volume - it fell a bit short but certainly was an enjoyable read. Napoliello carefully describes to parents the benefits of art education to young children and he is correct - it is a valuable resource that too often goes un thought of in the list of things "to do this weekend". He pairs nine artists with art projects that tie in either in materials used or style; they are all easy to do and seem very affordable. One needs only paint, brushes, paper, wire, and wood. I would have liked to have seen a more in depth look at each artist and his work, as well as his life. Only a thumbnail sketch of each is given. The book benefits younger children, older children (12+) would become bored with the projects very quickly. The list of terminology is quite helpful for parents with no art vocabulary at all.
