The foundation of excellent figurative drawing and portraiture in my honest opinion comes from a deep understanding of structure and anatomy. As an artist and graphic designer of many years, I have found the study of anatomy both human and animal to be a core subject that must be studied alongside the regular drawing and figurative study classes. This book has been written specifically for the artist. It gives the artist detailed anatomical positions and shows how bones, muscles and joints behave in movement. Male and females of different body types are featured to present detailed renderings and drawings of the human form. There are extensive studies on each area of the body with a special emphasis on facial expressions and the muscles utilized to express key emotions. This book should be an indispensable part of any art student or serious artist’s library. I wish I had owned a copy years ago during my figurative classes. It is truly a tool that will bring to your figurative work a sense of detail and realism. This is one of the best anatomy books for the artist that I have ever personally used.
