Peter, a thirteen year old boy finds himself caught up in a world of magic, prophecy, and danger. The Obsidian Orb is a precious and powerfully magic artifact. Anyone who has the power to control the orb’s power is essentially master of the world. An evil power hungry man, Sujad Cariotis, takes possession of the rebuilt orb, calling himself Lord of Obsidian. It is Peter’s job to assure that Sujad Cariotis does not succeed in his evil plan. To do so, Peter must not only regain the Obsidian Orb but also learn it’s magical secrets.
Lord of Obsidian is the second book of the Quest for Earthlight Trilogy. Though I have not read the first book in this series, I felt that the flashbacks and conversations between the various characters gave me a good working knowledge of what had occurred in the first book. Nonetheless, reading this book made me want to read the first book to get a bit more insight into the past interactions between these characters.
