Veronica Stoltz was stuck. After two years of college, she still hadn’t decided on a major. When it came to her future, she was completely lost. Really, it had been that way since her friend Tommy moved away suddenly. Things about that night still bothered her. The last thing Tommy said to her was strange, about whether she believed that goblins existed.

Veronica would soon find the answer to Tommy’s query. She was pulled into a grey land filled with goblins and flowers that threatened to eat her. Another surprise awaited her when she found out that Tommy and his family hadn’t moved away, they had been abducted and taken to another dimension.

In a Land of Hatred is the first in this series about the land of Hatred Blooms. It’s a nice solid story with interesting characters. I particularly like that the goblins are portrayed with more depth than in most fantasy novels. I can’t wait to get started on the next book.
