Fiction, Young Adult

Raggedy Ann Heart is a story of twelve-year-old Lindy Logan. Ever since her sister’s birth when Lindy was three, she knew that her mother loved Jo more. Lindy hated her sister. Her sister was perfect and beautiful. Lindy was not. Lindy made a lot of mistakes. All Lindy wanted was her mother’s love. However, Jo was so much like her mother. They both were beautiful. Jo even wanted to become a model like their mother. Lindy had different aspirations. Her wishes and dreams often changed as she tried to find herself in the world. To Lindy, that meant that her mother loved Jo more.

Both Jo and Lindy’s world changed the day the whole family moved from town into the country. They left behind what little friends they had. They had to start a new school where they both had trouble fitting in. Life in the country was a change for both girls. They turned to the television and classic movies which their mother loved. They had to work around the farm which meant less free time. But their world really turned upset down when their mother got sick.

Raggedy Ann Heart is a heartwarming novel by Heather McPhaul. It is mainly the story of Lindy Logan but also tells about her little sister Jo, who is perfect. It is the story of two sisters who do not get along but in the end they want the same thing, their mother’s love.
