This colorful book, features essays by the female future leaders of our country. Ranging in age from 5 to 33, they tell us what is important to them and why they would like to lead our nation as Madam President. Each has their own unique perspective on both the issues and what it will take to solve the problems our nation faces. The editors selected 35 women in honor of the minimum age a President must be in order to run and take office.
My favorite candidates were Jennifer Louise Searfoss, age 31, from Ada Michigan, and Jennifer Abraczinskas, age 22, from Calawissa, Pennsylvania. They were my favorites because they hold our constitution dear and they have laudable goals that I agree with.
Others will strike a chord with different readers and I was glad to see that the editors included a range of viewpoints and backgrounds in the women included. All of the women were very articulate and presented their views clearly with a strong voice. The fact boxes included with each essay were both interesting and helpful in understanding references each essayist made. The appendices showed the gradual changes made over the years in some areas of the political arena, and the lack of change in others with gender issues. The numerous color photographs were a wonderful complement to the essays and showed the women in action with community service and political work.
