The heroine, Sarah, is a writer and is able to see Edryd, a faery who has been banished into the earthly domain. Edryd, a son of Oberon and Prince of the Faery realm, remembers that he has been banished but not the details of why. Sarah decides to help Edryd try to discover what happened. Wyn, one of Edryd’s half sisters, doesn’t want Edryd to be happy because she believes Edryd killed her wizard husband, so she sends two banished faeries to convince or coerce Sarah into leaving Edryd alone and Edryd into leaving town. Edryd is very likeable and makes some friends in the earthly domain who are willing to help he and Sarah in their times of need.

This story is set in both the human and the faery realm. The story is very intriguing and there are many suspenseful events such as when Edryd is abducted from Sarah’s apartment by the two banished faeries and then put on a bus out of town. Will he be lost? What will happen to Sarah? When Sarah enters the faery realm, she refuses to be distracted from her self-chosen mission of saving Edryd in spite of many dangers and distractions. She is brave and her love for Edryd is strong.

This enjoyable book left me wondering about a few things though. What happened to Thorn, a fairy who came to the human realm to help the trees? Also, were there any consequences for Wyn since she broke the rules to try and wreak vengeance on Edryd? Aside from these questions, the action was wonderful and I would gladly recommend this book. Just as a heads up, there is some sexual content in the book.
