Warring Hearts: Cradle the Light
Vicki Gaia
Awe Struck eBooks
ISBN: 1-58749-562-7
Fiction, Romance
Reviewed By Cherry Leigh

When the reader first meets Richard Hart, the protagonist of this fiery romance, he gives off an air of mystery and aloofness. However, all of that changes when he meets Claire O’Neill, a tempest of a woman who is stalwart in her beliefs and devoted to her art. Through this motif of art, the development of their outer romance and inner struggles, as well as the war that imbues every ounce of their lives, is portrayed. Can Richard ever come to terms with his tortured past? Can Claire ever reconcile the death of her mother Katherine? Will they be able to persevere against the forces of war, insanity, and unforgiving pasts?

Paralleling all of this, Claire’s father Jack must come to terms with his feelings for a love long lost and found again in the beautiful Lady Gwen. The story and characters pull the reader into this entrancing romance, full of deceit and pain. By the end, the reader will come away with food for thought. Does love really conquer all, or is that only true in fairy tales? Warring Hearts: Cradle the Light is a promising first installment to what appears to be an excellent trilogy.
