The Cowherd and the Poetess
The Cowherd and the Poetess

Reviewed by Dr. Tami Brady

The Cowherd and the Poetess is the flowery dramatic interplay between Dennis the Cowherd and Vanessa the Poetess. Feeling deceived by love, Dennis leaves his home town in search of High Romance and his destiny. Vanessa lives in her grove eating pasta and peaches while she thinks about the true nature of her name and who she is. She also has dreams of romance and what is destined to be. Both search for romance and their destiny.

The Cowherd and the Poetess is a sugary, flowery romance story that reads like poetry. The words flow artfully like butterflies along the paper as the story unfolds. The author uses this method to both create and increase the romantic feel of the story. Then, to reduce the likelihood of creating a sickeningly sweet love story, the author adds a good measure of wittiness and comical situations creating greater dimension to this story. This approach allows the author to create a witty poetry story. Though poetic romances are not usually something that I would normally enjoy reading, I found this book amusing. The author has efficiently and skilful merged theatrical poetry and intelligent wittiness into an interesting unique tale that nearly anyone will enjoy.
