Sinya’s brother Wes has come down with a mysterious illness that threatens to consume the young man. Wes’ only hope is the powerful witch Beulah who states that the young boy’s illness is caused by Wes’ uncontrolled empathic powers. The only way to cure the boy is for Beulah and Sinya to travel into Wes’ spiritual plane and convince the boy to come to consciousness. Unfortunately, once in within the spiritual plane, Beulah and Sinya discover a powerful intruder, Hortra, trying to take over Wes’ powers.

Soul of a Witch is the eighth book of the Heart and Soul Romance series. This series features the Reeka, a warrior race of amazon-like women who have been wrongfully accused of killing their men and are trying to regain their reputation and homeland, as well as their allies the Daamen traders. Other races such as the lustful Argons, the cruel Inka Empire, the superhuman mutants, and the greedy pirates are also introduced throughout the series.

Unlike the rest of the books from the Heart and Soul Romance series, Soul of a Witch is more of a paranormal romance with a science fiction twist rather than a pure science fiction romance. However, like the rest of the books in this series, the female characters are strong, stubborn, and cautious of love. Also like the other books in the Heart and Soul series, Heart of the Forsaken is fully self-contained. Therefore, one can read this book without having read the first seven books. Nonetheless, reading the first seven books in this series will give the reader more information on the collective personality traits, historical background of the various cultures, and interconnections between the various characters described in this story.
