Kate McTavish is a typical red head, strong, stubborn and definitely opinionated. She is reconsidering her upcoming marriage and whether or not she really loves her intended husband. She leaves town to figure it out while a severe winter storm is brewing. She crashes her car in the front yard of Dayton Devereaux. He is a confirmed bachelor who wants to stay that way. He is quite happy sharing a quiet life with his dog Duke. He is trying to get over an old relationship coincidently with another redhead. Dayton gives Kate shelter after rescuing her from her wrecked car. He is very aroused from her from the first moment he sees her when he helps her undress out of her wet clothes and gives her his robe for warmth. The wreck is not the only trouble, Dayton discovers, as Kate begins to go blind and he finds out she is also pregnant.

This book is beautifully written. The characters are fully developed and easy to fall in love with. The characters personalities are deep and fully fleshed out, which makes them seem like people you would know and love in day to day reality. Duke is so well modeled that you love him from the first chapter. This book is full of conflict, trouble, trials, and you can really experience the inner turmoil of the characters as they mature and evolve from their circumstances. This is a very true to life romance that is hard to put down. One climatic circumstance draws you page after page to see what will happen next and you can’t wait to see how it turns out. These two characters despite their differences and feuding distinctly belong together. Everyone can see that they are destined for one another but they are blind to it. This is an excellent read that you will not be able to put down.
