Not of My Own Making is the memoir of Margaret Jones, Ph.D. This is her story told from her point of view. Not of My Own Making is one woman's story of taking a stand against the toxic tradition of bullying and silencing, and the cruel diminution of sensitive souls. Her lack of nurturance during childhood at home had made her easy prey at school. All of her attempts to win over her family's love and acceptance had failed - rejected by her fellow classmates Margaret decided that something was horribly and innately wrong with her (as most victims do).
She began keeping a journal while in high school. Imitating Anne Frank, she treated her journal like a good friend in whom she was able to confide her most private thoughts and feelings. The abuse from her past had contributed to who she now was. Her past experiences had framed how she responds to the events in her life today. After becoming aware of a spiritual emptiness and just wanting to be an accepted member of the Church Community Margaret attempts to fit-in in different Churches but finds herself the "outsider" even in the safe confines of the Church.
Not of My Own Making is a well-written memoir by Margaret Jones, Ph.D. It clearly shows how neglect and abuse in childhood affects one even well into adulthood.
