Fox in the Mist

Fox in the Mist is a fantastical tale about a group of individuals brought together by the Druids to change the future of a kingdom. This rather unique group includes Tavi, Todd, Morgannia, and Dracha. Tavi is a fox, a special fox that can be turned into a human girl with the help of Druid magic, foxberries, and a unicorn. Todd is a prince who was abandoned and left to perish at age seven by pretender King Evan MacCaughley. Morgannia, cousin to the infamous Morganna of King Arthur fame, is a sorceress of little talent handpicked by Merlin to become a Druid. Dracha MacCullum is a regal woman mysteriously aged by the loss of her love and her son.

Fox in the Mist is an entertaining and fantastical adventure. Though the tale is set in Arthurian times and does name some of our favourite heroes and villains from these well known tales, this story is completely separate from the traditional Arthurian legends. This gives the story a feeling of a time and place we already know and love but does not fall into the trap of trying to re-replicate or re-interpret the well known Arthurian legends. Another refreshing aspect of this book is that the characters are unique and original. Furthermore, the author skilfully creates interconnections between such seemingly different characters. This also adds to the pleasure of the book.
