As laird Andrew MacDonal readies his estate for his imminent death, he is concerned about the future of his only daughter Riona. Though Scottish law in 1815 allows women to hold property, Riona is underage and therefore her keeping will fall to her future guardian Gordie Campbell. But the laird doesn’t trust Gordie. Gordie not only wants control over St Clair Castle but also wants to take Riona as his wife and take over MacDonal Hall as well.
The situation seems hopeless until Jonas Sinclair comes looking for Andrew MacDonal, bent on revenge. Jonas’s father had once been best friends with the laird but had been framed for the murder of a young girl and exiled to America. Though Jonas only wants to clear his father’s name so that he could inherit St Clair Castle, he gets a whole lot more.
Captive Hearts is a feisty romantic adventure that travels from the Scottish Highlands to the plantations of Southern United States and back again. In between, there are kidnappings, privateers, lust, love, and a good deal of intrigue.
