Against his better judgment, Cade agreed to allow the young man standing on his doorstep become his apprentice. His wolf senses could discern that this human boy had a good heart, and Cade had been a loner for too long. Cade, a seasoned demon hunter, took his new protégé under his wing and began to teach him the ropes of becoming a slayer.
They both had lost loved ones from demon attacks, and nursed deep emotional scars. Cade however, did not anticipate, the growing feeling of love developing for his new partner, David, nor was he ready to accept a deepening relationship that could jeopardize the hunt. David’s admiration and love for his new master grew steadily, but he trained hard and maintained his professionalism, keeping his deeper feelings hidden. Neither one was prepared when disaster struck, and threatened to tear away the fragile bonds of love that they both had come to secretly rely on.
This shifter tale, deeply explores the emotional aspects of new love and the development of trust and acceptance on many levels. The characters struggle with understanding these new emotions, and how this will define them as well as how it will impact their working relationship. This is set against a backdrop of demon slayings, and tense emotional turmoil. It is a short but well spun tale that explores the dynamics of human emotion and sexuality. The sexual tension is palpable and the erotic scenes flow perfectly. The focus never leaves the character’s emotional state for long, which heightens the story and affects the reader on a deep personal level. Excellent read!
