Angel in a Foreign City

As the back cover states, private investigators are a unique breed.  Their lives are peppered by tumultuous events, and they spend their days walking the very tenuous line between life and death.

Based on real life events and autobiographical stories, Angel in a Foreign City , tells the story of the kidnapping of business tycoon Se’or Diego Dual's daughter Carmen.  During the investigation, Ethan Eshed, a Los Angeles based private investigator, finds more than he bargains for when he falls for Lisa, an undeniably sexy young Mexican college student.

Angel in a Foreign City, is a valiant crack at a first novel by fledgling author Moti Shapira.  Ethan Eshed, the novel's protagonist, is just shy of a truly compelling lead, however.  His relationships with the women in his life during the course of the novel are a bit shallow and impulsive.  Written differently, Ethan's impulsiveness could be portrayed as a pitfall of his chosen profession, but Moti Shapira doesn't take full advantage of this opportunity.

The investigative aspects of the novel are interesting enough to keep you turning pages, however, and the plot, certainly, is riveting.  Angel in a Foreign City is a quick read that will keep you engaged from the first page to the last, despite its unfortunate lack of a fully realized lead.
