Sally Gunning's Bound is an excellent read. She demonstrates an ability to research events, customs and situations in an earlier time and meld them into a dandy work of historical fiction. Alice is a very interesting character and Gunning does a masterful job of telling the story through her eyes.

This is a book that will keep readers on their toes because the plot twists occur often and are adeptly done and the author doesn't spare readers from the harsh realities that indentured servants endured in early America. Anyone liking historical fiction or a well-crafted narrative will find this a very satisfying read. Gunning's first book The Widow's War was very popular with my library patrons. I expect they will welcome her new book with open arms.
