South Florida Spin is Virginia Aronson’s first fiction collection. The short stories capture the human condition through loves and losses, grief and healing. Aronson’s stories mainly occur on the beaches of Miami and American suburbs, but each environment plays a major role in defining the attitudes of her characters and the choices they make. Her post-modern style prose is almost hallucinogenic at times, mesmerizing her audience to read further.
Aronson’s stories are real situations, relatable and readers easily care about the characters they are reading about. Such stories include a girl running away as far as can; and then further after. In another, Aronson portrays a young boy’s experience during Hurricane Katrina. Her talent for description also enhances the stories and heightens the readers’ awareness to comprehend the emotions of her characters. From pain to hope, and the journey in between, Aronson takes her readers far.
Virginia Aronson is the author of 28 nonfiction books for young and adult readers. Her poetry appears in dozens of literary journals.
