Mr. Squirrel and his family have a real dilemma. Mr. Worm and his friends delight in spinning silken webs that cause the nuts they rely upon for winter food to rot before they can be harvested. After a family meeting to discuss what to do and a fruitless attempt to reason with Mr. Worm, the Squirrel family rations their winter food supply. When the summer brings a fresh harvest, they plan ahead, harvesting nuts before Mr. Worm and his cronies can do their damage.
The illustrations are very nicely done and the production quality of this picture book is decidedly good. However, the story would benefit from tighter editing. I found two things rather distracting. First, there are numerous paragraphs where both Mr. Squirrel and Mr. Worm are talking instead of breaks to delineate which one is speaking. Secondly, there are too many Ha Ha's and exclamation marks used as punctuation. These changes would make the book far easier for young readers to enjoy the story and absorb the author's message.
