Jerry Fletcher has been having some strange dreams. These episodes seem so real, like he is living out a completely different lifetime as another person. Finally, he is regressed and learns the truth about his past lives.
I have to admit, I am a little on the fence about this book. I was intrigued by the concept of this individual’s regression and how these past events were bleeding into the life of this man in present day. The Heretic focuses primarily on the past life experiences of Jerry Fletcher as Aias, the real hero behind the legend of Alexander the Great. The story behind the story was interesting and well thought out.
However, in my mind, the voice of the piece wasn’t quite right. I thought that although the contemporary edgy style fitted well with the modern scenes, it was out of place in the situations of the past. I would have liked to see the voice and the personality of this person adapt with the norms and taboos of each age.
