Aside from a tiny bit of distraction on the opening page regarding what seemed to be a contradiction in weather descriptions, I found myself pulled into this story, enjoying it immensely. It has the feel and flow of a true fairy tale, one that should appeal to adults as well as to younger readers or those who love being read to.

It is a circular tale, returning allegorically to its beginning as it winds down. Elantra and William, the main characters are well fleshed and sympathetic, the supporting cast, from fairies and trolls, to the lovers' parents and Elantra's grandparents are believable and the author has done a nice job creating the world they live in. This was a story I could 'watch' while reading, which is one way I know something is well-written.
