This is my new travel companion. This book, Spontaneous Tourism, states that it is the Busy Person’s Guides to Travel- yet, it could be any person’s guide to travel. There is so much information that serves as reminders, invaluable new knowledge, tips or additional resources to make traveling easier, that I recommend it to anyone considering travel!
The author has written from his own experience and has actually been to every state in America, as well as more than a dozen countries, since 2004. He reminds us that travel, even for a shorter period of time than we would like, is not a waste of time if you enjoy and learn from the experience. I totally agree with him.
I love to travel, can’t afford to spend the time I would love to in the beautiful places I want to see- yet, I will use this guide to make short trips as often as possible! Mr. Samans has just put, at my fingertips, most of the information I would need to quickly and efficiently plan trips to the places I have longed to go. There is info on every means of travel from driving to cruises and on every part of traveling from packing to where you will stay. Since I have done a lot of traveling inside the U.S., my interests lie in travel abroad and there is a wealth of information here that answers all the questions that
I can come up with at this time. Paris, for instance, I am told is a must see and is very expensive. I have delayed going because I’m told there is no way to see all that you should in a few days. This author has reminded me that you don’t have to see it all in one visit, and that you can make this visit so much less expensive, just by choosing carefully where you will stay and being willing to forego some sleeping luxuries, since you don’t travel thousands of miles to sleep anyway. My trip to Paris will be sooner thanks to information like the Paris Visites, rail passes that can only be purchased online before you leave. This saves so much on getting around inside Paris, since the same pass can be used for all three transportation systems (rail, bus and RER). And, of
course, there is information on Hostels, Hotels, Main Attractions, general attitude of the people, etc.
The author then advises us not to let the sights distract us from enjoying the visit! There are innumerable details like this on about anywhere you’d want to go-what to see, modes of transportation, where you could live, how to pack, the climate, the people and more! Believe me, if you know a lot about traveling or a little-you will benefit from owning
this book, and having current information about travel in your favorite places! I give the book and the author a thumbs-up, he even invites you to email him with questions or comments!
