Rachel Andrew has done people like me a huge favor by writing this revision. I'm still getting by with the simplest web page designs because I'm alternately too busy or intimidated to sit down, analyze where I'd like to go with both my personal page and the ones I maintain for the library and a non-profit, and then make the improvements.
After reading through this colorful and well-designed book, I have hope. Written in "how do I?" followed by "Here's the solution" format, the book covers the basics, then text styling and fonts, CSS and images, navigation, tabular data, forms and user interfaces, cross-browser techniques, accessibility and alternative devices and CSS positioning. Each of these sections includes numerous examples following each "how do I" section.
I liked her attention to detail throughout because it never got overwhelming while remaining thorough. There are numerous things in this book I hope to play with when winter comes and I have more indoor time. This is another book that I will not only use to expand my personal web development skills, but will be one that I expect I will refer to frequently as I venture further into more complex web page creation. It would be an excellent addition to mid-size and larger public libraries as well as for anyone serious about expanding their web page creation skills.
