Two strangers, a career Marine sergeant named Scarlet, and a disabled lumberjack (well, she thinks he’s a lumberjack) named Ezekial meet at an airport, go wild in the elevator, then check into his hotel room and go at it like rabbits. She’s not had sex in months, she admits; he wants to party like it’s the end of Prohibition. And we’ve barely hit page eight.
Heat Sheets are exactly what they say, short (25pp) but positively steaming romps in which everything is subservient to sex, including the uptight sarge and the intoxicating Zeke. But North, truly a gifted author, as readers of her past titles will already be aware, being North, a brief and meaningless encounter cannot be left to fade into memory.
The couple will meet again, under less than ideal circumstances, and Fraternization shifts dramatically, from a vivid splash of wanton abandon, to a more cautionary tale of ethics and rules. And the thermostat continues to soar, despite all of Scarlet’s best intentions.
