Fantasy, Erotic Gay Romance
Reviewed by Shannon Frost

Captured when at his most vulnerable, the demon Winter finds himself subject to the bidding of his new human master, the witch Kenth. The only way Winter can hope to regain his freedom is to become the man’s assassin, murdering all would-be heirs to the throne of Delvore, a task he holds no qualms against as once many years ago his kind and the people of Delvore battled against one another, but when he stands before his final prey, a man whose death means Winter’s freedom, something inside of him stirs.

When the banshee showed herself to Peregrine, he couldn’t believe that he would be the next king, but no sooner had she announced his birthright than an assassin came to claim his life. Peregrine knows Winter’s presence is deadly, not only to himself, but to the entire kingdom, and yet under the demon’s ruthlessness, he senses a soul of humanity. As they face off, hunter and quarry walk a delicate line where to one side lies a future together, on the other side death, and neither knows to which side they will fall.

Shadow Hunt is a tightly written admirable work of fantasy with erotic elements. The world is well crafted to being believable, and the plot of intrigue and passion make it impossible to put down once the first page has been read. Peregrine, Winter and Kenth are all layered and deep characters, making it so the reader wants to cheer Peregrine on to success, and at the same time can feel sympathy for Kenth in why he’s motivated to act as he does. Whether fighting against one another or flirting with each other, the scenes between Peregrine and Winter are written with a fine hand that pulls out the deep connection between the two. For readers looking for an exciting piece of fantasy or a strong romance, Shadow Hunt is the tale to pick up. Authors Prieto and Taylor are to be highly praised for their joint effort in creating this highly enjoyable work.
