The Master’s Prize is a BDSM-themed novella by Maggie Nash. Set in contemporary urban Australia, the story features Elise Blake, “newsreader” for the local radio station, and Michael Collins, rich man about town. Michael, besides being quite rich, is a Dominant and trainer at the local BDSM club, and Elise, based on her one visit, has great interest in the subject. Elise, however, has no interest in Michael, or at least no interest that she’ll admit. On the other hand, Michael is interested to the point of borderline stalking.
Ms. Nash is writing a romance, so of course the two of them get together fairly quickly. The plot is basic and predictable; however this reader found it quite entertaining. The point of this story is to deliver hot sex, which it does. The BDSM is explicit without being hard-core, and everybody involved (including the reader) is having fun. At only 57 pages, it’s a short read, but if you’re looking to kill a couple of hours, well worth your time.
