It’s hard enough trying to make time to do all the things we’d like to do in our own lives, but what if you felt responsible for taking on someone else’s wishes, dreams because they couldn’t do them? Would it spur you forward to finish? Would it make you stop along the way and realize things about yourself that you otherwise might not have considered?
That’s what happens to June Parker in The Next Thing on My List. June works for L.A. Rideshare, a carpooling agency. When June is involved in a car accident following a Weight Watchers meeting and her passenger, Marissa Jones, dies, she ends up with the list of 20 things Marissa wanted to do by her 25th birthday. In an attempt to honor her friend, she sets out to complete the list--a list which varies from getting a massage, to riding in a helicopter to changing someone’s life. Along the way, she discovers more about herself and changes her own life in the process.
Smolinski crafts a laugh-out-loud funny, heart warming story that will have you cheering for June from the first page to the end. The characters are believable, all flawed in their own way, and lovable.
This book not only entertained me, but also inspired me to start my own life list.
