Close companions since childhood, Miril and Veelos are sisters in everything but blood, and both are the keys to fulfilling an ancient prophesy. As one falls from grace to save the man she loves, another flees to a life serving God to escape being bound in unwanted marriage. When destiny brings them together once again, the two women who at one time would sacrifice their life for the other, must now battle for the fate of the world.
With dialogues and lessons that speak on the morals of man and the beliefs of Christianity, the literary writing style of Demonwitch harkens back to the religious texts of the Middle Ages and bares the weight of a Biblical epic. Set in a fantasy world complete with strange races and sorcery, the story creates an interesting mix between the fantastical and Christen beliefs, as author C.S. Lewis had once done in his Chronicles of Narnia series, though the world of Demonwitch is not as fanciful as it is edged with far more darkness and states its values without the underlying symbolism. Between the actions of the characters and the theology presented, a thought provoking tale is created where the reader at times begin to wonder what truly is “good” and what is not. At times, the pacing can feel a bit slow, but the twist at the end delivers a surprising and unexpected conclusion.
