Casida, the Red Queen of the Kreefa, barely out of her teens, has the wisdom of many generations. She must choose her mate carefully because she is responsible for the sanity, fate, and survival of her people. Her heart is lonely and she longs for love, but she is resolute in her determination to serve her people’s best interests. Her touch can calm any man, but she has difficulty calming her own heart.
Ansgar, revered warrior and fierce protector of the Druids, is a skilled fighter who destroys anyone that would bring his people harm. He has enjoyed the company of many women in the past, but none will offer him their heart. He has resigned himself to the fate of being a lone hunter.
Casida and Ansgar band together to fight the evil that is affecting both of their communites. They find themselves fighting against more than their enemies.
Silver Blade is the second book in the Red Queen series, Ms. Levigne does an exceptional job of introducing her characters to new readers; while not overtly stomping over what readers of the first book would have considered covered ground. After reading the first few chapters, I longed to get my hands on Red Queen Series: Book One, just to see what adventures I missed. Silver Blade is a great read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys strong characters, and a good story in general.
