I must confess that I never watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer although, if I were a TV watcher, that show would have been near the top of my list to explore. That omission did not detract from my enjoyment of this book.
Jennifer Ouellette has done a skillful job drawing from the show to make science (particularly physics, but some biology and chemistry) both entertaining and easily understandable. In fact, I can see where this book might be a good text for unorthodox teachers trying to get unmotivated but bright students engaged in the study of science in general and physics in particular.
Take, for example, her discussion of imaginary time. I can imagine students having a marvelous time goofing on getting home by way of dual black holes. "Yo dude, we get dematerialized on the way in and rematerialized on the way out. What a bummer that my cell phone rematerialized as part of my belly ring."
I found the book a fun read and the sort of book you sip as opposed to devouring in one big chunk.
