The Dead Who Do Not Sleep
Jennifer St. Clair
Writer’s Exchange
ISBN: 1 920972 61 7
Fiction, Paranormal Mystery
Reviewed by Rachel Olivier

The Dead Who Do Not Sleep, by Jennifer St. Clair is an entertaining novella where, uncharacteristic of most stories, the main character is killed off in the first chapter. The rest of the tale follows the journey of Will Spark as he finds out who killed him an why. While it follows a Dashielle Hammet style of story telling, and is reminiscent of the Maltese Falcon, this tale includes not only stereotypical bad guys and broads, but also ghosts, vampires, psychics, priests and other assorted paranormal characters.

I enjoyed this story. It caught my attention and held it until I finished it 3 hours later. The characters were entertaining and immediately accessible. The plot was fun to try to figure out, and the paranormal twist made it that much more fun to read. The author has created a fun, believable world using her own subtle, yet twisted, vision and I highly recommend this tale to anyone who is a fan of the mystery and the paranormal.
