The Day of the Awakening is the first book of The Curse of Mesphisto’s Seed series. In this book, the reader is introduced to Gloria and Patrick Stephens. The happy couple are desperate to have a child but are told by the doctor that they will never conceive a baby. The two are utterly crushed by the news. They’d do anything to have a child. The great sadness of this horrible news turns to jubilation when Gloria finds herself miraculously pregnant. Subsequently, Elliott is born. The boy is a very special child. At eighteen months old, he can talk about complex subjects and read books that most adults find challenging.
Unfortunately, Elliott finds it extremely difficult to connect with and fit in with his peers. The boy has no friends. No one wants to play with Elliott as the boy tends to enjoy just starring out the window for hours on end. Moreover, children who anger Elliott tend to die horrible mysterious deaths.
The Day of the Awakening is a terror-filled thriller. The dynamics and events behind the awakening of Elliott are both well thought out and complex. These aspects create a deeper, more terrifying storyline. Furthermore, the focus on the inner workings of Elliott’s mind during these events is quite unique and often disturbing, also adding to the energy of the story.
