Teake was a 300-year-old witch. He was traveling to Taggart’s Bend to give the Blood Oath to a new vampire leader. Traveling without a guardian is not customary, but he was told that he would find everything he needed at his destination. He stopped at an old abandoned rock quarry and fashioned a spell that would give him a vision of what lay ahead in his immediate future. A handsome male vampire appeared in his vision, they were arguing and he could see the thin cord that bound them together. He was dismayed at the thought of having a vampire as his guardian during the Blood Oath, no matter how handsome he might be. He decided to pleasure himself and began thinking of the male in his vision. He unknowingly made a mental link with the vampire and was shocked when his phantom began to materialize on top of him. His shock quickly turned to pleasure. Teake continued onto Taggart’s Bend, not knowing what to think about his amazing experience. He knocked on the door of the house where he would be giving the blood oath. The same vampire that he had just coupled with moments before greeted him.
This book is deeply imaginative and erotic. The sensuality portrayed between the male lovers is intimate and emotional. The character’s personalities are perfectly matched, even when they are arguing. I have never enjoyed a lover’s spat more. The sex is hot, with vivid imagery and yet it has a gentleness and deep emotional impact upon the reader. This is a wonderful alluring fantasy that is seductive in all the right places.
