Lost and Found is a beautiful story about love, loss, and the power of true love. The main characters, Joan Poynton and Daniel Childress are both intelligence operatives. Joan is on her first mission for British Intelligence. Really the only reason she is on the mission is that she is the only one who can identify the French professor that she is assigned to rescue from German occupied France. The professor and his wife had been a family friend. Daniel is with the US Intelligence working covertly before the US officially joined the war effort.
In the action and uncertainty of the very dangerous mission, Joan and Dan create a strong connection. In any other circumstance, the two would have gotten married and lived a happy life together. Unfortunately, all wasn’t meant to go smoothly. It seemed that the mission had been compromised and to secure the safely of the operatives both Joan and Dan were told that the other had been killed. Years later, the two learned the truth.
I really enjoyed the different aspects of Lost and Found. The spy thriller portion was filled with action, intrigue, and passion that caught my attention right away. Then, just as I really started to feel attached to the characters, the storyline slowed and focused on the more emotional romantic part of the story.
