Sërg Stanovic is a collector of the rarest gems in the world. He gears up for his latest conquest, an extraordinary is a rare variety of tourmaline called a paraiba found the jungles of Brazil. Unfortunately, not all goes as planned. The gem disappears and a man is murdered over a mysterious package in front of Sërg’s young son Urie. The stakes are then raised considerably when the boy is also murdered while on a ski trip with his uncle Dominick.
The characters in Red Flash are well developed with realistic flaws and personality traits. I didn’t particularly like the character of Sërg but I know plenty of people like him. He is a rather closed person who directs the actions of others and lets them do the dirty work for him. His brother Dominick is the extreme opposite. He is a likeable emotionally open character who seems far more concerned with the welfare of Urie before his murder and is completely devastated after the horrible tragedy. These differences in personality traits directly relate to the way each man lives his life, loves, and deals with the situation at hand.
