For Brian Rainings, coaching teenage girls’ gymnastics is a poor replacement for the life he once new as a competitive gymnast, and he wants nothing more than to feel that drive and passion of being amongst elite competitors once again. When he learns that Christopher Allen, one of the most promising gymnasts to hit the scene, is looking to make a comeback after a near debilitating injury and needs a coach, he sets his sights on bringing the young man he’s admired from afar back to top status. As the two come together with the same goal in mind of getting Chris back into competition form, their mutual attraction builds into a passionate relationship.
The world of gymnastics is a deeply fascinating one, and author Michael does an excellent job in the character of Chris, making him into everything one would expect a high level competitor to be, determined, ambitious, driven, focused, while adding vulnerability to him as he battles to overcome his fears caused by his injury that nearly ended his career. The relationship between Brian and Chris is filled with intense heat, but also deep emotion with the care and love they hold for each other. The two compliment each other very well, each being able to give the other what he needs to be successful in reaching his dream. At times the dialogue comes off a bit rigid, and the sentences don’t have the smoothest flow, but the heart of the story keeps the reader going through the awkward parts. The conclusion comes about when there’s a whole lot more story to tell, so hopefully the author is planning a sequel as it would be nice for this sexy and loving couple to return to see if they can achieve their dream together.
